A gallery of desserts

A ground-breaking retail experience, this store is more akin to an exclusive gallery than a conventional retail space. It takes the distinctive minimalist Japanese aesthetic that we have curated for LeTAO Australia to the next level of sophisticated detail.

Creating a stand-out destination desert store in central Sydney CBD required a total rethink on the luxury retail experience. Utilizing the latest tablet based ordering technology we deleted the traditional service counter and created an interior reminiscent of an opulent gallery.

Borrowing Japanese geometry, square elements are meticulously positioned in the centre of a perfectly square space, made tall with a striking mirrored ceiling.

Inspired by the floor level window often found in traditional Japanese architecture, more mirrors skirt the walls and infinitely extend the floor plane. This expands the space to new grand proportions and adds to the gallery-like ambience.

Granite boulders sourced from a local quarry are reminiscent of the mountainous home of LeTAO: Hokkaido. Their raw texture highlights the exquisite desserts which sit vibrant and precious on the raw rock.
