A home that cooks
A deliciously colourful mid-century modern abode designed for Stefano DePieri, renowned chef of award-winning Mildura eatery, Stefano’s Restaurant. Stefano bought this sweet, mid-century modern house for the next chapter of his life, as a place to celebrate and display his exquisite collection of artwork, objects and homewares.
A larger than life Italian personality translated into mid-century modern interiors that are fresh, bold and delicious!
Terracotta tiles, profiled timber panelling, funky terrazzo benchtops, fluted glass and pops of rich colour come together a tribute to the mid century modern era that this sweet home originated in.
The biggest challenge in this project was to upgrade the old style kitchen into a bespoke highly functional solution deserving of master chef Stefano. The solution is loads of hidden storage in integrated refrigeration and a secreted walk-in pantry. Then a large central island for Stefano to weave his magic. with bespoke setup attuned to his way of working.
The best sections of the original cabinetry were repurposed for modern day use, expanded upon and used to inspire the joinery throughout the living areas.
The same language was used in the warm inviting bathroom and ensuite, with bespoke terrazzo vanity basins and rich cabinetry in dyed veneers.
The result is a functional, fun and fanciful home reflecting Stefano’s zest for life. With thoughtful updates to the mid-century modern design, we infused fresh flavours into the interiors, to reflect Stefano’s larger than life Italian personality.
